The Office of the Dean of Students & Career Services, in collaboration with the University of Nairobi Faculty of Heath Sciences (FHS), successfully held the FHS Mental Health & Wellness Open Day on Thursday 19^th February, 2026 at Kenyatta National Hospital campus.

The event served as an educative and interactive session to discuss factors contributing to mental health deterioration and coping strategies among medical students

“For me HIV is more than a disease; it is an injustice. With everything we know from 40 years of this pandemic, the science, the drugs, the prevention tools, no one should be infected by HIV and no one should die from AIDS related causes. We can end the ugly inequalities driving HIV! We have all the tools to prevent and treat HIV and enable people to live long and healthy lives. If we do the right thing, we can end the injustice of AIDS.

The Faculty of Health Sciences emerged 2^nd runners up in this year’s University of Nairobi annual sports day.

The teams comprising of both staff and students commonly known as Team Afya, had an impressive performance during the games.

Team Afya won gold medals in chess (women) and rugby; silver medals in netball and chess (men), and bronze medals in hockey, basketball, swimming and athletics.

The University of Nairobi held its 67th graduation ceremony on 23rd September, 2022.

 A total of 3553 graduands were conferred with degrees and diplomas and one Honoris Causa.  A total of 85 PhD 595 Masters degrees, 2508 Bachelor degrees, 62 Post Graduate Diplomas and 302 Diplomas were conferred to the well deserving graduands for their accomplishments.

The students were placed to study at the University of Nairobi by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).

The University of Nairobi Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama commissioned health facilities supported by Central Province Response: Integration, Strengthening and Sustainability Project Plus (CRISSP+) project in Kiambu and Kirinyaga Counties.

The Vice Chancellor was accompanied by Prof. Evelyn Waigayu, Ag. Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences, and CRISSP+ project Principal Investigator, Dr. Jared Mecha.

Two medical students from the University of Nairobi (UoN) Faculty of Health Sciences are the minds behind a health management information system developed to help healthcare practitioners become highly efficient at delivering quality care.

Victor Ireri, a 6^th year medical student and the current Chairman of the Association of Medical Students University of Nairobi and his counterpart Clarence Rugar also a 6^th year say EHS Biodata is a one-stop solution for a great clinical journey.

The Association of Medical Students of the University of Nairobi (AMSUN) hosted its 12^th Scientific Conference on the 9^th and 10^th June, 2022.

The event was officiated by Prof. Julius Ogeng’o, the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs and the awards and closing ceremony hosted by the Faculty of Health Sciences Dean, Prof. Evelyn Wagaiyu.

The University of Nairobi and National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation NACOSTI hosted the Strengthening Research Ethics Review and Oversight in Kenya (STrek) Conference at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Tuesday May 24- 26, 2022.

The inaugural brain tumour conference was held on 20th-21st May, 2022 at the Faculty of Health Sciences(FSH), University of Nairobi(UoN).

The hybrid conference was hosted by the Units of Anatomic Pathology and Neurosurgery and together with the Brain Tumour Association of Kenya (BTAK). The conference theme was; ‘Creating awareness for brain tumour care in Kenya’.
