I am a Professor of Biochemistry/Molecular Biology. I am also currently the Chairman, Department of Biochemistry. My research interest includes the use of Molecular Biology tools to address human and veterinary medical diseases such as trypanosomiasis, theilerosis and typhoid. I also have an interest in the use of DNA typing in forensic Science, and I am currently coordinating development of postgraduate Diploma course in Forensic Science in the department. My research activity is in development of simple and inexpensive diagnostic kits for detection of Salmonella which is a major cause of foodborne illness throughout the world and whose diagnosis is technologically and financially challenging in poor developing countries.
